Northern Ireland Customs Clearance Report

10.00

When importing a vehicle from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland it isn’t clear if the vehicle needs to clear customs or not.

  • If the vehicle needs to clear customs then you generally need to pay 3 taxes, 10% customs duty, 23% VAT and VRT.
  • If the vehicle doesn’t need to clear customs duty then you only need to pay VRT.

Therefore there can be thousands of euro of a difference in the amount of tax you need to pay.

This report will check the vehicle against the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in the UK and provide guidance on whether or not the vehicle needs to clear customs based on the guidelines set out by the Revenue Commissioners.

To order a report you just need to confirm the registration number of the vehicle and confirm if the vehicle logbook (V5c) has an NI private address (if a dealer is named on the log book answer no).

Please enter a registration number
Please answer "Does the V5C logbook have an NI registered keeper/private owner?"
