What is the VRT rate on a classic car?

A classic or vintage car is a car more that 30 years old.

Cars 30 years or older are considered category C vehicles.

The VRT rate for category C vehicles is €200.

ZV Regisration Plates

If a car is over 30 years old you can opt for a ZV registration instead of a standard registration.

Example:

If you purchased a 1971 vehicle the registration number can be “ZV 1234” instead of “71-D-1234”
